About the Role
Are you an experienced Housekeeper who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe and comfortable environments? Do you understand the importance of cleanliness, hygiene and attention to detail when working in a care setting?
We are looking for reliable, hardworking and compassionate Housekeeping Staff to support our clients across local care homes in Portsmouth and Southampton areas.
Previous experience working in a UK care home or similar care-focused environment is essential, as you will be working around vulnerable adults and helping to maintain a clean, hygienic and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, dependable and understands that housekeeping in a care home plays an important role in residents’ comfort, dignity and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain residents’ rooms, communal areas, bathrooms, corridors and other designated areas to a high standard.
- Follow cleaning schedules and ensure all tasks are completed thoroughly and efficiently.
- Clean and sanitise surfaces, furniture, fixtures and frequently touched areas in line with infection prevention and control procedures.
- Safely use cleaning products and equipment in accordance with instructions and health and safety guidelines.
- Follow all relevant cleaning, hygiene, infection control and safeguarding procedures.
- Handle and dispose of waste appropriately, following the care home’s policies.
- Replenish cleaning supplies and report any shortages or maintenance issues.
- Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and personal belongings at all times.
- Work professionally and respectfully around residents, visitors and other members of staff.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for residents.
- Carry out other general housekeeping duties as required.
Essential Experience & Requirements
- Previous UK-based experience working in a care home or similar care setting is preferred.
- At least six months’ UK-based experience in a housekeeping, cleaning or similar role.
- A caring, respectful and compassionate approach when working around vulnerable adults.
- Good understanding of cleaning standards, hygiene and infection prevention procedures.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and the appropriate use of cleaning products.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and adaptable when working across different care environments.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enhanced DBS check required (a free first DBS check is available).
- Availability for the duration of the assignment or contract.
